With hospitality reopening after a tumultuous 18 months, and preparations underway for a hopefully bustling festive period, it’s a great time to remind the sector about the importance of fire safety. With strategies, staffing and potentially premises changing ahead of the big ‘reopen’ earlier this year, it’s perhaps understandable fire safety may not have been at the top of the business agenda. However, it’s crucial that hotels, restaurants, bars, wedding venues, shops and other spaces in the sector comply with fire-safety standards and regulations.
The impact of fire in hospitality can be devastating. CheckFire is a trusted trade supplier of high-performing fire-safety equipment and works closely with customers to intricately understand the needs and pain points of the sectors it supplies, particularly those felt by hospitality.
Fire safety to beautifully enhance interiors
Fire extinguishers are required by legislation and crucial to ensure venues are enjoyed safely. CheckFire understands that during the design of such inviting spaces, great attention to detail is paid to interiors and ambience, but fire-safety equipment shouldn’t be sacrificed for fear of disrupting the look and feel of a space.
For the finest interiors, CheckFire has created the stunning Contempo range. These exquisite fire extinguishers are designed to be a stand-out feature in their own right, enhancing interiors while ensuring peace of mind for all who use the building.
Contempo is an industry first and ideal for luxurious and high-end settings like boutique hotels, or contemporary bars, restaurants and office spaces. The Contempo range is available in the following colourways:
Stainless Steel
It’s one of the most durable and corrosion-resistant metals available, but stainless steel has aesthetic value too and makes for an elegant finish on a fire extinguisher. It can withstand the toughest environments. The stainless-steel range is available in water, foam, powder, CO2 and MultiCHEM units, with select fire extinguishers available in up to 9-litre/kg sizes.
Polished Gold
Gold has been associated with luxury for centuries – and with its mirror finish, this stunning unit sits perfectly against a backdrop of moody and atmospheric blues, or spaces with high ceilings and period character. It’s available in up to 6-litre/kg sizes and in water, foam, powder, CO2 and MultiCHEM, depending on the type of protection required.
Antique Copper
These fire extinguishers have been hand finished for a beautifully unique appearance. A design focal point, Antique Copper fire extinguishers are available in up to 6-litre/kg sizes and in water, foam, powder, CO2 and MultiCHEM.
Accessorise for a unified aesthetic
The Contempo range is also home to coordinating tubular stands and fire extinguisher ID signs, in each of the finishes, to complete a look that offers the height of luxury. Mandatory fire-safety equipment can now beautifully complement its surroundings, reassuring hoteliers and business owners of compliance and elegance.

For fire extinguishers to be (distributed) in the UK they must be, as a minimum, CE marked. The CE mark tells the user that the product complies with applicable standards. In this instance, the standard is EN3. In order for a fire extinguisher to gain a CE mark it must comply with EN3 parts 1–10, excluding part 7 paragraph 16.1, which has reference to the colour. The accreditation bodies view this as not part of the safety, operation and testing of the unit and is purely cosmetic; therefore, the CE mark can be attached. Once the CE mark is attached, the unit becomes legal for sale within the UK and Europe.
