Despite being in the middle of the second national lockdown we are delighted that the fire industry continues to demonstrate its resilience and tenacity. This clearly sends a clear and determined message that it is business as usual albeit from the safety of a socially distanced environment.

The reception UK Fire continues to receive fantastic comments and the whole team at MDM are always delighted to receive these.

In line with tradition UK Fire Editor Phil Martin kicks off the issue with his Editor’s Comment titled ‘Leading change in an unknown environment’ which looks at the need to create a collective understanding of what is required to ensure that everyone is focussed on a common goal.

With 18 feature articles, the ASFP Comment, NFPA Vision, 3 profiles and 4 pages of news this issue has something for everyone and provides a real cross-sector mix of information, opinion and knowledge.

Check out ‘Crowd Source’ by Victoria Hutchison which looks at crowd dynamics and the need for evaluation and management of potentially dangerous crowds. London Fire Brigade’s Head of Sustainable Development Nicole Fletcher presents her article, ‘Going carbon zero and social value a must for fire services’ which identifies the positive work being done by LFB. Be sure to check out the Special Report highlighting the fantastic charity work being undertaken by firefighting duo Matt Broxton and Tom Taylor with their Frontline Coffee initiative.

We will continue the series profiling UK Fire and Rescue Services in the next issue with the spotlight falling on Cleveland FRS, as well as featuring our Emergency Services Show Preview and Exhibitors Showcase.

We are pleased to present our seventh issue and, as always, we welcome your feedback and ideas before the next issue in February 2020.

Take care and stay safe and please; ‘Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives’
