We were delighted with the reception the UK Fire team were given at the Emergency Services Show (ESS). UK Fire continues to receive fantastic comments and the whole team at MDM are always pleased to receive these.

In line with tradition UK Fire Editor Phil Martin kicks off the issue with his Editor’s Comment titled ‘A resilient and adaptable fire industry in a time of turmoil?’ which looks at the UK political situation and how this affects the stability of the fire industry.

With 17 feature articles, 4 profiles and 4 pages of news this issue has something for everyone and provides a real cross-sector mix of information, opinion and knowledge.

Check out ‘Can firefighters trust compartmentation?’ by Steve McQuirk and Guy Doyle which explores whether firefighters can, truly, trust compartmentation. The special report ‘Firefighting is now officially a cancer-causing occupation’ is thought provoking and provides a real eye opener for all operational firefighters. Be sure to check out our ‘Dräger’s ‘Health for the Firefighter’ survey results: what are firefighters’ primary health concerns?’.

We are pleased to present you with our nineteenth issue and, as always, we welcome your feedback and ideas before presenting the next issue in February 2023.

The UK has shown great resilience during the pandemic and we are delighted that the fire industry continues to demonstrate its tenacity and ability to bounce back quickly from such adverse conditions. This clearly sends a clear and determined message that it is business as usual.

UK Fire continues to receive fantastic comments and the whole team at MDM are always pleased to receive these. The team were delighted to catch up with so many readers and clients during the Emergency Services Show back in September. It was nice to see so many people on a face to face basis.

Take care and stay safe.
